Musk to Mute Trump's Truth Social?

 


Donald Trump’s new social media platform Truth Social faces even more trouble as Elon Musk toys with the idea of taking over Twitter. Truth Social got off to a rocky start with unforeseen restricted user access that resulted in a loss of interest by many which ultimately produced an outcome of low user participation on the app. Two top executives also fled from the app during critical release points. Now, as the prospect of a merger looks bleak with each passing day, so does the future of Truth Social as Musk looks at purchasing the social media giant and reorganizing it in such a way to negate the original intention of Truth Social.

            Truth Social was a product of Donald Trump after his account was banned on Twitter. He created the new social media platform to be a place for free speech where the liberal media couldn’t sensor him, his constituents, or anyone else that didn’t fit their agenda. With Elon Musk looking to buyout Twitter, the future of Truth Social is uncertain as Musk has been a public advocate for freedom of speech and looks to loosen censorship of Twitter. If Twitter becomes a hub for free speech, where does that leave the already-plagued Truth Social?

  As Elon Musk inches closer and closer to a Twitter buyout, Republicans prepare for a possible return of Donald Trump and other popular party members to the social media platform. Musk has said that he believes the app should be a platform where free speech thrives, so he will likely reorganize and relax different censor methods that are in place. Truth Social Off to a Difficult Start

     Former President Donald J. Trump’s widely anticipated Truth Social has gotten off to a rocky start as many of the newly registered users are either highly inactive on the new platform or cross-post the same posts on other popular social media like Twitter of Facebook. Even politicians who have been outspoken about media censorship and the idea of fake news, such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have been cross-posting on Truth Social and other previously criticized media apps. Truth Social is an application that allows users to post short messages to their following base in a similar fashion to Twitter.
